Special Olympics Minnesota (SOMN) offers a range of competition opportunities for equestrians that are at least 8 years old and have an intellectual disability.
Equestrian Special Olympians are required to have 10 lessons every year to compete in the Special Olympic Equestrian Games. The lessons at North Country RIDE qualify riders to join a Special Olympic team and be part of the regional and state competitions.
Lessons include English or Western Horsemanship, Trail Class, Showmanship, grooming, and tacking. Previous exposure to horses is a plus.
