Our Horse Partners program is designed to be an outlet for those who are looking to work towards personal goals through equine involvement that does not include riding. These unmounted activities will build upon horsemanship skills and knowledge. Whether you are looking to increase your physical fitness or build your self-confidence, horses and our instructors can assist!
Goals are individualized. Some examples are:
- Develop and/or maintain gross motor skills
- Decrease anxiety
- Manage depression
- Be physically active
- Stretch and increase range of motion
- Develop basic horsemanship skills
- Develop body awareness and management skills
- Build executive functioning skills
- Gain self-confidence through equine handling
The Horse Partner program will follow PATH, International guidelines, and standards of Therapeutic Horsemanship. Horses will be interacted with in manners that support the mission, vision, and values of North Country RIDE and which provides a mutually beneficial relationship for both participant and equine.
This program is open to participants over the age of 8 who are looking to make personal gains through interaction with horses. The program is designed and led by an instructor, with the assistance of Horse Leaders and Sidewalkers as needed, to support the participant in pursuing the arranged objectives.
